It's a Bed Key!
This unusual item is a bed key! In the 1800’s, beds were valuable possessions and often slow to burn. Firefighters used this tool to quickly disassemble and remove beds.

It's a Fire Extinguisher!
This is a blue glass Harden’s Hand Grenade Fire Extinguisher. Popular in Victorian homes from about 1870 to 1910, the glass grenade was filled with saltwater and thrown at the base of a fire in an attempt to extinguish it. Not as effective as modern portable extinguishers!
