Walter Titus, February 28th, 1912

On Tuesday, February 17, 1912 at 7:02 PM, an alarm was sounded on Box 375, Lena and Armat Streets, for a fire in the Germantown Tool Works, a three-story brick building located at 57 Armat Street.

While operating at this fire, Hoseman Walter Titus of Engine 19 was seriously injured when he was completely buried by a falling wall. Hoseman Titus died of his injuries the next day, February 28, 1912 while in the Germantown Hospital.

The fire loss amounted to $70,000.
