Firefighter John Flood died in the line of duty from occupational cancer on November 18, 2022. Firefighter Flood provided 28 years of dedicated service with the PFD.
His death was the first occupational cancer death recorded by the department.
Firefighter Flood continued the family tradition of firefighting. His Father George J. Flood was a Philadelphia Firefighter from 1965 to 2003.
For a period of four years prior to becoming a Firefighter, John Flood served the City as a Philadelphia Police Officer.
