Lynford Krewson , April 28th, 1962
On Saturday, April 27, 1962 at 10:58 PM, Platoon “B” of Engine 65, Ladder 6, and Battalion Chief Robert Burns of the 11th Battalion responded to a Local Alarm for a fire in the kitchen at the rear of the 2nd floor apartment of Abe Kirschbaum, located at 5121 Market Street. Box 492, 52nd and Market Streets was struck at 11:02 PM for addition help.
While operating at this fire, Firefighter Lynford Krewson, Battalion 11’s Aide, while directing the companies which were arriving on the firegrounds, suddenly collapsed on Market Street. He was immediately taken to the Philadelphia General Hospital where he died at approximately 1:30 AM on Sunday, April 28, 1962 from an apparent heart attack.
