Louis R. Mortimer, November 26th, 1954

On Friday, November 19, 1954, while working at Engine 37's station, Captain Louis R. Mortimer, Relief Officer of the 9th Battalion, was injured when he fell down the station's stairway.

Captain Mortimer fell to the concrete floor, striking his head. He was taken to Chestnut Hill Hospital where he was treated for a skull fracture, intracranial hemorrhage and brain damage.

Captain Mortimer died at the hospital on November 26, 1954 just one week after the accident.
