Joseph P. Busfield, March 26th, 1960

On Saturday, March 26, 1960 at 11:52 AM, Engine 59 responded to a grass fire located at Wissahickon Avenue and Queen Lane. When the autocar pumper entered the intersection of Wissahickon Avenue and Roberts, Fireman Joseph P. Busfield, who was driving Engine Co. 59, slumped over the steering wheel. The pumper swerved, struck an automobile, which in turn struck another automobile. Fireman Busfield was removed to the Woman’s Medical College Hospital by Rescue 10, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
