Jacob P. Rothfuss, January 9th, 1947
On Thursday, January 9, 1947, Engine 62 responded to a grass fire located off Bustleton Pike, south of Haldeman Street.
The fire was located in a cornfield and extended over several acres. Flames at times were said to have risen to a height of 8 to 10 feet.
While fighting this fire, Hoseman Jacob P. Rothfuss of Engine 38, detailed to Engine 62, collapsed and died while working at this fire.
