On Sunday, March 24, 1945 at 5:34 PM, an alarm was sounded on Box 2164, Commercial Avenue and Mifflin Street, for a fire at the Globe Drum Company, located at Delaware Avenue and Mifflin Street.

Lieutenant Howard B. Wilson of Engine 1 was killed in a collision between Engine 1’s wagon and Engine 8’s pumper at the intersection of 2nd and Christian Streets.

Engine 8’s pumper crashed into an American Store after colliding with Engine 1’s wagon.
