George W. Wolf, December 8th, 1872

On Sunday, December 8th, 1872, at 7:30 AM, an alarm was struck on Box 26, 10th and Filbert Streets, for a fire reported in a three-story brick dwelling located at 904 Filbert Street.

Ladderman George W. Wolf, of Truck “A” was killed when he was thrown under the truck with the wheels passing over his body.

The cause of the fire was a “defective flue” and the fire loss was set at $270.68.
