George St. Ledger, August 31st, 1914

On Election Day, November 7, 1905 at 1:12 PM, an alarm was sounded on Box 433, Thompson and Williams Streets for a fire in a one-story frame rag shop owned by D. Cowley and operated by J. Kerrigan, located at 2804 Edgemont Street.

While responding to this fire, Lieutenant George St. Ledger of Engine 25 was thrown from the combination wagon when it struck a bad rut, injuring him seriously.

On August 31, 1914, he died of these injuries.

The fire loss was estimated at $15.00 and the cause of the fire was recorded as “unknown”
