Frank B. Schultz, September 17th, 1939
On Wednesday, September 6, 1939 at 8:53, an alarm was sounded on Box 1851, Schoolhouse Lane east of Gypsy Lane for a fire in a 2.5 story frame and stone garage and barn on the estate of Mr. & Mrs. David Milne.
During this fire a stone chimney unexpectedly fell to the ground, seriously injuring Hoseman James Lawson of Engine 19 and Hoseman Frank Schultz of Engine 9.
Hoseman Lawson subsequently died at 1:45 AM in the Woman’s College Hospital on September 7, 1939. Hoseman Schultz died eleven days later on September 17, 1939 as a result of his injuries.
Three other firemen were also treated for injuries. The fire loss was estimated at $20,000.
