On Sunday, September 7th, 1879, at 4:53 AM, an alarm was sounded on Box 267, Orthodox west of Hedge Streets (in Frankford), for a fire at White and Sanson’s, a two-story stone cutlery manufactory.

Hoseman Francis E. Raymond of Engine 7 was gravely injured when he became trapped beneath a falling wall. He died from these injuries on Monday, November 24th, 1879.

The cause of the fire was “spontaneous combustion” and the fire loss was listed at $515.89.
