William J. Malloy , December 15th, 1903

At 9:53 PM, on Friday, February 23, 1900, Box 37 at Broad Street and Fairmount Avenue was struck for a fire at 1402-06 Fairmount. The four-story brick building was occupied by Sulzbach’s Clothing store. During the blaze, the roof caved causing a wall collapse that injured numerous firefighters and bystanders.

Hoseman William Malloy of Engine 45 suffered internal injuries and was taken to the German Hospital. His injuries were so serious and he never fully recovered. He lived for over 3 years eventually succumbing to his injuries on December 15, 1903.
