William Dusenberry, January 10th, 1967
On Tuesday, January 10, 1967 at 9:36 PM, a Local Alarm was received for a fire located at 5762 N. 6th Street, a two-story brick (18’ X 50’) Beauty Shop and apartment complex occupied by Mrs. Margaret Cadwallader and others.
Engine Company 61, Ladder Company 17, and Battalion Chief William Dusenberry of the 2nd Battalion responded. The fire was located in the basement and first floor of the building.
At approximately 9:48 PM, Battalion Chief William Dusenberry collapsed while fighting the fire. He was removed from the building and taken to the Albert Einstein Medical Center, Northern Division, located at Broad and Olney where he was pronounced dead on arrival at 10:10 PM.
The cause of the fire was listed as wood studding ignited against a smoke pipe.
This was run #15 for Engine 61 in 1967 and service was rendered for one hour and fifteen minutes.
