Charles J. Monaghan, January 1st, 1940

On Monday, January 1, 1940 at 1:52 PM, an alarm was sounded on Box 628, 4th and Wharton Streets for a fire in a three-story brick apartment house located at 1324 S. 5th Street.

The fire was located in the basement of the building, and when Engine 3 arrived Hoseman Charles J. Monaghan was the first to enter. Shortly thereafter, it was found that Hoseman Monaghan was missing.
