Albert Pflueger, February 11th, 1903

On Saturday, January 24, 1903 at 4:40 PM, an alarm was sounded on Box 229, 2nd and Brown Streets for a fire in G. Kelly’s four-story brick furniture factory located at 822-32 N. American Street.

While operating at this fire, Hoseman Albert Pflueger of the Fireboat Stuart (detailed to Engine Co. 32), fell from a roof and fractured his hip and elbow.

On February 11, 1903, just about three weeks later, he died of these injuries while in the Jefferson Hospital.

The fire reached three alarms.

Various spellings of the name found to exist such as “Pluger” and “Pfluger”.
